Supreme Court asked to decide incentive fund future

Whether Missouri begins supporting new high-tech businesses now depends on whether the state Supreme Court says the state law creating a special incentives fund is constitutional.

Almost a year after the General Assembly’s 2011 special session approved the “Missouri Science and Innovation Reinvestment Act” and Gov. Jay Nixon signed it into law, the high court heard arguments for and against Cole County Circuit Judge Dan Green’s February 2012 ruling that the law, as passed, violates the state Constitution.
