INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Katie Douglas scored 16 points and the Indiana Fever forced a franchise-record 28 turnovers in a 72-48 victory over the Seattle Storm on Wednesday night.

Tamika Catchings added 13 points, seven rebounds and a season-high six steals for the Fever (20-9), who have won eight of nine. The Fever are 10-2 since the Olympic break and remain in contention for the top seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Svetlana Abrosimova had 11 points and eight rebounds for the Storm (13-16).

Seattle played without its starting backcourt. Point guard Sue Bird, the Storm's leading scorer, rested and Tanisha Wright did not play because of a groin strain. The Fever took advantage, collecting a season-high 17 steals and allowing a season-low point total.

Seattle center Lauren Jackson finished with four points on 2-for-10 shooting and committed seven turnovers.

The Fever have won at least 20 games for the fourth straight year and are within range of their franchise record of 22 wins with five games remaining. Indiana set the record in 2009, the year the team lost to Phoenix in the WNBA Finals.

SUN 100, MERCURY 78

PHOENIX (AP) - Kara Lawson scored a career-high 30 points to help the Sun get the win.

Mistie Mims added 15 points and nine rebounds for Connecticut (22-8), which leads Indiana by 1½ games for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. Lawson also had eight rebounds and seven assists.

DeWanna Bonner had 24 points and 10 rebounds for the Mercury (7-22).

Connecticut scored 13 consecutive points late in the third quarter to take a 67-56 lead.

Lawson went 9 for 17 from the field, including 6 for 13 from beyond the arc.

Connecticut played without leading scorer Tina Charles, who was sidelined by a strained groin. Charles, the league's leading rebounder (10.6 a game) and fifth-best scorer (18.2), had not missed a game in her WNBA career.

LIBERTY 75, MYSTICS 62

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Cappie Pondexter scored 22 points to lead the Liberty to the victory.

Nicole Powell had 15 points and Kia Vaughn added 10 for New York (13-17), which went 4-2 on a six-game homestand - including two wins against last-place Washington. The Liberty also moved a half-game ahead of Chicago for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Monique Currie scored 24 points for Washington (5-25), which has lost nine straight. The Mystics dropped to 1-15 on the road this season, with their lone win against the Liberty on July 13 in the last game before the league's monthlong Olympic break.

Pondexter's 3 gave New York a 67-58 advantage with 4:43 to go, and Washington got no closer than seven the rest of the way. The Liberty scored the final six points of the game.

SILVER STARS 78, SHOCK 63

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Shameka Christon scored 17 points, Sophia Young had 16 and the Silver Stars stopped a five-game skid.

Danielle Robinson finished with 12 points for San Antonio (18-11), which led 51-27 at halftime. Becky Hammon had 11, and Jayne Appel added nine points and 11 rebounds.

Glory Johnson led Tulsa (6-23) with 18 points, and reserve Ivory Latta had 17. Temeka Johnson finished with 10 points.

San Antonio grabbed control with a 15-3 run in the first half. Jia Perkins capped the spurt with a jumper that made it 32-14 with 8:34 left in the half.
