Lawmakers override Nixon's 'religious freedom' veto
Wednesday, September 12, 2012
The Missouri Legislature today overrode Gov. Jay Nixon's veto of a bill that allows employers to exempt some health care coverage in their employees' insurance policies on moral or religious grounds.
The Senate approved the override by a 26-6 vote — three more than the two-thirds majority required for the override.
The House waited nearly five minutes to get the minimum 109 votes needed for the override. The final vote was 109-45.
Each chamber debated the bill for about 25 minutes before voting.
Lawmakers last year overrode Gov. Nixon's veto of the Congressional Redistricting bill.

This Legislature needs to be kicked to the curb. They have done more damage to working Missourians than any I can remember for 30 years.
