Indiana farm expands cantaloupe recall

An Indiana farm that supplies produce to Schnucks has expanded a cantaloupe recall to include watermelon.

Chamberlain Farms of Owensville, Ind., said the items distributed over this past growing season could have been contaminated with salmonella newport.

Schnucks stores in Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa buy the Indiana farm produce, which contains stickers reading "Indian Hills - Product of USA."

Lori Willis, director of communications for the store's Jefferson City/Columbia region, said the recalled items haven't been in their stores for quite awhile. But if people still have the products, they can return them to the store.

"I want to assure the customers that all the products you see in our stores today are outside the recall," she said.
