Council restores Jefferson City transit funds

The Jefferson City Council has reinstated $224,000 to the city transit system budget to allow Jefftran to continue running as is in the next fiscal year.
At the budget meeting Thursday, council members voted 6-1 in favor of restoring the funds needed to keep running existing routes. Second Ward Councilman Shawn Schulte cast the only opposing vote.

Amazing that just a few months ago the city was crying that it didn't have any funding, and that the firefighters would not get any new equipment unless the sales tax increase was passed. But despite all the recent failed tax increases, the City "leaders" are finding ways to fund essential services.
Good Job, City Council! You are starting to prioritize, rather than going back to the taxpayers for never-ending tax increases. You still have a long ways to go to rebuild trust, but if you keep making hard decisions and scouring the budget for waste and fluff, you just might earn some of that trust. Keep at it!

Couldn't agree with you more...now if only they would rescind the purchase of the council's fluffy new iPads and dedicate that money to a more responsible use.
