Kennett boy comes to aid of wounded dog

KENNETT, Mo. (AP) — A young southeast Missouri boy is getting high praise for going out of his way to help an injured dog.
KFVS-TV (http://bit.ly/Q0Lp3f ) reports that Hayden Sando of Kennett was heading to church with his family Sunday when he noticed a wounded puppy in the road. Hayden and his mother found an off-duty police officer at their church.
The dog — a 14-week-old Great Pyrenees — was taken to a veterinary clinic, where it was diagnosed with a broken leg and other health problems.
The next day, Hayden emptied his piggy bank and gave all of his money — $20 — to help care for the dog.
Kennett Humane Officer Tina Petix is asking for additional donations to help pay for nursing the dog back to health.
