Ameren electric bills to slightly decrease

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Electric customers of Ameren Missouri will get a small break on their bills because of a decline in fuel prices.

The Missouri Public Service Commission has reduced Ameren Missouri’s fuel adjustment charge, effective Sept. 24. It’s expected to save the average residential customer about 21 cents a month.

The charge allows power companies to adjust rates to recover most of their fuel costs.

Ameren Missouri has about 1.2 million electric customers, mostly in the central and eastern parts of the state.

Woo Hoo! Now after 12 months of saving the 21 cents...I can go to the dollar store and buy a couple of items! I'm sure got glad I've got Ameren watching out for me! I sure feel lucky...I mean come on...they are giving me 21 cents back a month! Wait...you mean they want to charge me $13.00 a month more in their most recent rate increase...now I'm feeling pretty unlucky! :-( At least I feel better about giving my money to a utility who's not in it for the money (profitable). Wait...Ameren is a profitable company? Maybe we can ALL consider moving to a non profitable electric cooperative? Hmmm???
