BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (AP) - Patrick Nyarko scored in the opening minute and Daniel Paladini had a goal in the 19th to lead the Chicago Fire to a 3-1 victory against the Houston Dynamo on Sunday night.

Alex scored in second-half stoppage time to seal the win as the Fire (13-8-5) moved two points ahead of the Dynamo for third place in the Eastern Conference.

Brian Ching scored in the 90th minute for Houston (11-7-9).

Nyarko picked off a pass intended for Dynamo defender Jermaine Taylor, ran 40 yards, and beat goalkeeper Tally Hall 50 seconds into the match. Paladini made it 2-0 when his right ankle deflected Sherjill MacDonald's pass behind Hall from seven yards out 18 minutes later.

FC DALLAS 1, SOUNDERS 1

FRISCO, Texas (AP) - Jackson' scored in the 32nd minute and Kevin Hartman made a couple of key saves to lift FC Dallas to a draw against Seattle.

Dallas (8-12-9) preserved its playoff hopes, improving to 3-1-1 in its last five to move four points behind Vancouver for the Western Conference's fifth and final postseason spot.

Mauro Rosales scored in the 20th minute for Seattle (12-6-8), which improved to 5-1-2 in its last eight MLS contests and edged past Los Angeles into third place in the West.

Hartman, the MLS all-time leader in virtually every goalkeeping category, made three saves, including one on Sounders forward Fredy Montero, who was scoreless on five shots after getting six goals in his previous four league matches.

CHIVAS USA 4, EARTHQUAKES 0

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - Defender Ramiro Corrales scored his first two goals of the season, both on free kicks in the second half, to lead San Jose.

Defender Victor Bernardez scored on a free kick early in the game, and midfielder Simon Dawkins added a goal from close range late in the first half for San Jose (16-6-5). The Earthquakes moved back into sole possession of the MLS lead with 53 points - three ahead of Sporting Kansas City.

Corrales' second goal in the 82nd minute was the Earthquakes' MLS-leading 56th, and eclipsed their previous franchise record of 55 set in 1997.

Chivas USA (7-11-7) had several solid scoring chances in the first half, but couldn't get anything past San Jose goalkeeper Jon Busch, who recorded his sixth shutout of the season.
