School enrollment: Most about where they expected to be

The numbers won't be "official" for another month or so. And by then, they may change.

But Mid-Missouri public and parochial school officials still are looking at their preliminary enrollment numbers from the first few days of classes, and making adjustments where necessary to get school going as smoothly as possible.

An informal News Tribune survey of Mid-Missouri schools drew responses from 24 of 36 schools contacted, including 11 elementary schools in the Jefferson City Catholic Diocese.

Of those 24, eight schools or districts reported preliminary enrollment increases totaling 171 students, while 13 schools or districts show an enrollment drop of 218 students, total.
