It was a no-win situation for the Jefferson City Jays.

Up 6-0 at the half against Lebanon in the Class 3 District 10 Tournament opener at the 179 Soccer Park, Jefferson City coach Eddie Horn had a decision to make.

Leave in the starters, who likely would score four quick goals and end the game by the 10-goal mercy rule? Or clear the bench to give the reserves a taste of postseason play?

There was a third option. And that’s the one that was chosen.
