Mike Bernskoetter, Republican incumbent for representative in Missouri House District 59, says he’s a socially and fiscally conservative politician.

“I strongly believe in personal responsibility and freedom,” he said. “I think my experience at home, experience in the private sector and experience in the General Assembly make me the better candidate.”

In describing his political platform, Bernskoetter said, “It expands on the theme of personal responsibility and freedom. I believe when Missourians are empowered to make their own decisions and solve their own problems, they are better off, and so is our society. I also do not support any tax increase at this time.”

Vonita Trickey, Democratic candidate for the Missouri House District 59 seat, describes her political beliefs as somewhere between a liberal Republican and a conservative Democrat.

“Neither side is completely right nor completely wrong, although Romney is coming very close, in my opinion, to this,” she said.

Trickey believes she would be the better candidate for the job because she thinks on her feet.

“I am used to coming up with alternative options rather than following the party line,” she said. “I am not afraid to stand up for what I feel is right or for the better good even against great odds. I am used to swaying others to see my point of view.”

Bernskoetter has proven time and time again that he hates state employees. How does Trickey feel about the largest group of local economic drivers in the Central Missouri region?

"I am used to swaying others to see my point of view.” -- How very elitist of you. You work for the people called voters/constituents, not the other away around. That's why you're called a "representative".

rep·re·sent·a·tive [rep-ri-zen-tuh-tiv] Show IPA noun 1. a person or thing that represents another or others. 2. an agent or deputy: a legal representative. 3. a person who represents a constituency or community in a legislative body, especially a member of the U.S. House of Representatives or a lower house in certain state legislatures. 4. a typical example or specimen of a group, quality, or kind.

She just knows better than everyone else. That is all.

Yet another race where we have two losers to pick from. Vote for the least of two evils.

Why can't we ever get good candidates who love their country to run?
