OZARK, Mo. -- The third time was the charm for Jefferson City.
After falling twice to Helias during the regular season, the Lady Jays defeated the Lady Crusaders when it mattered most: the Class 4 state sectionals.
Jefferson City topped Helias 25-21, 28-30 and 25-21 on Saturday afternoon to reach the state quarterfinals. No stats were immediately available for either team.
The charm didn't last much longer, however, as Jefferson City then fell 17-25, 12-25 to Ozark in the quarterfinals.
Ozark had defeated Republic 25-23, 25-22 in the other sectional it hosted.
Ozark advances to the Class 4 Final Four along with Lafayette, Francis Howell and Lee's Summit West. It takes place Nov. 2-3 in Cape Girardeau.
