Lady Jays win sectional

CAMDENTON, Mo. -- The Jefferson City Lady Jays captured team honors Saturday in the Class 4 Sectional 3 meet.

Jefferson City finished with 55 team points to top the eight-team field to advance to Saturday's state championships at the Oak Hills Golf Center. Rock Bridge was second to claim the other team spot.

Kaley Ruff was fifth to lead Jefferson City, while teammate Tori Bonnot was eighth and Emily Deeken finished 14th.

Other Lady Jays finishers included Lily Willis (30th), Hannah Dugdale (32nd), Brenna Duncan (35th) and Natalie Vance (59th).

The Class 4 girls will run at 10:35 a.m.

On the boys side, a pair of Jays advanced to the state championships.

Caleb Ruth finished sixth to pace Jefferson City, while teammate Glenn Teubner was 16th. The top 30 individuals move to state.

The Class 4 boys will run at 9:35 a.m.

The Jays finished fifth as a team with 103 points. Rock Bridge (48) and West Plains (60) advanced as teams from the sectional.

Other Jays individuals included Paul Kiekhaefer (31st), Eli Jacobs (38th), Jack Gamble (41st), Saxon Teubner (60th) and Lucas Theroff (68th).

Helias girls, boys claim state berths in Class 3

MOBERLY, Mo. -- The Helias Lady Crusaders captured the Class 3 District 5 team title by one point Saturday.

The Lady Crusaders finished with 60 points, while Clinton totaled 61 in the eight-team field.

Three Helias girls earned all-district honors with their top-15 finishes -- Kaitlyn Shea (third), Molly Light (sixth) and Baylee Francka (15th).

Other Helias finishers included Joni Reinkemeyer (20th), Amanda Patino (23rd), Ali Boudreau (27th) and Lizzie Stumpe (28th).

The Lady Crusaders will run in the Class 3 state championships at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Oak Hills Golf Center.

The Helias boys also advanced to the state championships by virtue of its second-place finish as a team Saturday.

Warrensburg ran away with the team title, totaling 32 points. Helias was second with 80, while School of the Osage finished third with 97.

Michael McCoy was third to pace the Crusaders. Matt Lorang also captured all-district honors with his 12th-place finish for Helias.

Other Helias individual finishers were Thomas Asmar (19th), Evan Block (23rd), Christian Collins (31st), Vincent Altomari (32nd) and Eric Prullage (40th).

Tristan Hensley of School of the Osage was the district champion, while Chase Cook of Eldon was 11th to claim a state spot.

The Class 3 boys will run at 10:05 a.m. Saturday.

Voss captures individual honors for Blair Oaks

LINN, Mo. -- Brett Voss of Blair Oaks was the individual boys champion Saturday in the Class 2 District 4 meet.

Voss will be joined by three teammates -- Nick Yaeger (12th), Jason Otto (14th) and Brad Thomas (15th) in this Saturday's Class 2 state championships at the Oak Hills Golf Center.

The Class 2 boys will run at 11:10 a.m. at the Oak Hills Golf Center.

Blair Oaks finished third as a team with 61 points.

On the girls side, the Lady Falcons advanced two runners to state. Megan Graessle was sixth for Blair Oaks, while Alyson Jones was 12th.

The Class 2 girls will run at 12:25 p.m. at the Oak Hills Golf Center.

Blair Oaks finished fourth as a team with 88 points.

Fatima boys, girls move on in Class 2

LINN, Mo. -- The Fatima Comets claimed team honors, while the Lady Comets were second Saturday in the Class 2 District 4 meet.

The Comets won the 10-team event with 44 points. Hunter Hennier (second), Ross Schanzmeyer (fourth) and Tom Zeilman (fifth) earned top-five finishes for Fatima, while Josh Temmen was eighth.

Other Fatima runners included Cody Huhn (25th), Noah Thoenen (32nd) and Austin Muenks (34th).

The Class 2 boys state championship is scheduled for 11:10 a.m. Saturday at the Oak Hills Golf Center.

The Lady Comets finished with 63 points to take second Saturday.

Alexis Peters led the Fatima girls by finishing third, while Riley Caminiti (eighth) and Abby Sturtz (11th) also earned all-district honors.

Other Lady Comets included Ashley Reinkemeyer (19th), Cheyenne Fechtel (29th), Katie Eichholz (31st) and Connor Conley (34th).

The Class 2 girls will run at 12:25 p.m. Saturday at the Oak Hills Golf Center.

California girls, boys advance in Class 2

LINN, Mo. -- The California Lady Pintos, led by individual champion Elizabeth Kirby, claimed team honors Saturday in the Class 2 District 4 meet.

California finished with 60 points to capture the title.

Kirby was one of three Lady Pintos with top-five finishes, joined by Katie Imhoff (fourth) and Leah Korenberg (fifth).

Other Lady Pintos included Regan Downing (19th), Emily Zeihmer (39th) and Anna Thibon (45th).

The Class 2 girls state meet will be at 12:25 p.m. Saturday at the Oak Hills Golf Center.

On the boys side, California claimed a state spot by finishing second as a team with 60 points.

Adam Burkett led the Pinto individuals by finishing third. Two other Pintos -- Zachary Merril (seventh) and Dakota Harris (13th) were all-district performers as well.

Other Pintos included Eli Freeman (17th), Justin Mitchell (20th), Josh Long (41st) and Mason Albertson (48th).

The Class 2 boys state race is scheduled for 11:10 a.m. Saturday at the Oak Hills Golf Center.

Russellville girls, boys claim Class 1 berths

LINN, Mo. -- The Russellville Lady Indians will defend their Class 1 state championship after taking the District 3 team title Saturday.

Russellville finished with 22 team points to win the three-team event.

Miranda Hill captured individual honors for the Lady Indians. Grace Young (2nd), Hannah Michitsch (fifth), Hannah Matthews (10th) and Taylor Young (15th) also earned all-district honors for Russellville.

Justice Miller (16th) and Erica Miller (19th) also ran for the Lady Indians.

The Class 1 girls race is set for 11:45 a.m. at the Oak Hills Golf Center.

On the boys side, Russellville advanced to state by finishing second with 81 points.

Alex M. Thompson paced the Indians by taking third. The other Russellville finishers included Matthew Fringer (16th), Nick Haslag (19th), Jayce Tschirgi (21st), Jamie Porter (22nd), Alex D. Thompson (24th) and Damian Miller (33rd).

The Class 1 boys state race is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. Saturday.

Linn boys take title

LINN, Mo. -- The Linn Wildcats took Class 1 District 3 team honors Saturday with 51 points.

Tyler Rush of Linn took individual honors, while teammate Chase Barbarick was fifth. Greg Spillman (13th) and Joey Nilges (14th) also were all-district.

Other Linn individuals were Josh Gibson (18th), Brandon Vernon (26th) and Jacob Voss (29th).

The Class 1 boys race will be at 1:05 p.m. Saturday at the Oak Hills Golf Center.
