Police investigating non-fatal shooting

Jefferson City police are investigating a non-fatal shooting that occurred Thursday night.

According to police reports, officers were called at 11:23 p.m. to Capital Region Medical Center in reference to a gunshot victim who had come into the emergency room.

A 33-year-old male from Jefferson City told officers he was shot once in the back while walking in the 700 block of East McCarty Street.

The victim was unable to provide information about the suspect.

The wound was not life threatening, and the subject was treated and released.

Occasionally, when a story breaks online and then goes into the paper the following morning, it accidentally gets posted online a second time. We try to avoid that, but sometimes a duplicate slips through for various reasons, including, for example, different editors on duty and/or different headlines for each medium.

I am beginning to think they try to soft soap the stories to make the area look better. We moved and its a real reality check to hear the news about what happens in JC and Columbia. Even had a neighbor ask us what the deal was with that area, that they were shocked at the horrible crimes that go on.

The FBI just released violent crime figures for 2011 and, for the fifth year, the numbers are down. But, of course, we all know that the FBI (Fast Becoming Islamic) is lying about this. Any real God-feerin' American knows full well, just check the Teaparty web filth, that violent crime has to be increasing as long as the BlackMooslim-in-Chief is in the Whitehouse . . . Spel? Connor? Grace? Straighten us out here. Isn't America crumbling? Shouldn't we fear our streets while that Thing is in charge?
