Grand jury indicts three on assault, stealing charges

Among those indicted this week by the Cole County grand jury was a California man who fled from a Jefferson City police officer in August and was caught after trying to drive through a chain-link fence to escape.

Charlie Walters, 34, has been charged with resisting arrest, two counts of leaving the scene of an accident, driving while revoked and driving while intoxicated.

After a report indicated Walters was driving carelessly and recklessly, a JCPD officer attempted to make contact with him in the area of West Main Street and Dix Road.
