Your Opinion: Artwork honors Vietnam veterans
Thursday, October 25, 2012
Regarding the article in the Oct. 15 News Tribune about Tom Seematter’s effort to fine a permanent home for his artwork dedicated to Vietnam veterans in the Missouri Museum in the Capitol and have been wondering why it was removed.
Vietnam veterans served their country with courage, the same as veterans of other wars. They had nothing to do with decisions make by those in command.
I have no personal interest in the artwork, other than that I believe all veterans should be honored for serving their country. They should be considered “our heroes” and are deserving of our respect and admiration.
With Veteran’s Day approaching unless there is a valid reason for removing it, it seems that it would be appropriate if Seematter’s artwork could be restored, with dignity as a permanent display of the museum.
