KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Former House speaker and presidential candidate Newt Gingrich will campaign in Missouri next week for Republican Senate candidate Todd Akin.

Akin's campaign says Gingrich is to attend fundraisers Tuesday in the Kansas City area and appear with Akin on Wednesday at a rally at the city's Union Station. Gingrich also appeared with Akin last month at a fundraiser in suburban St. Louis.

Gingrich and his former presidential rival, Rick Santorum, both are backing Akin's challenge to Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill — even though Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is not.

Romney had called on Akin to drop out of the race after Akin remarked in August that women's bodies have ways of avoiding pregnancy in cases of what he called "legitimate rape." Akin has since apologized.

Todd Akin gets the nomination of Newt Gingrich, a Conservative with a proven record in reducing debt, and McCaskill gets the endorsement of Kirsten Gillibrand, who voted for the stimulus and to increase our taxes. It is obvious that we need Todd Akin in the Senate!

Man that's what I want, an endorsement from Newt. Are you kidding? This paints over the last path out of the corner his history, statements and policy handlers have put him in. Todd Akin is total fringe, and there's no greater proof of it than being endorsed by Newt.

Great photo BTW, in a well-heeled bar, with a table full of empy glashhes, and Akin possibly dozing. . . . you can't make this stuff up . . . what a Maroon

Newt once led the country into growth and prosperity. Who wouldn't want that kind of endorsement?! If by fringe you mean getting on the path to a balanced budget and a sound economy then sign me up for that fringe element!

You already signed up, now you need to read the fine print. I'll give Newt credit for the mid-90s revolution and the minor impact it had on efficiency, but sometime the means (convincing many in America that government is evil if you can see it at all) brings unintended consequences, like the flowering of the government hate acts that culminated the the loud noise you heard in Oklahoma City. His rhetoric is classic, and has proven to be so divisive and destructive that he almost disappeared. He should. Yes, I hold him and those who echoed his government hate speeches very much responsible for those deaths.

You mean the government hate acts that Clinton signed into law? Or the government control mechanisms that Clinton signed as executive orders?

I guess ol Newt should have just denied having extra curricular activities like Clinton did then his political career wouldn't have had to take a break.

Sorry Mr. Clay, that doesn't make sense . . . in the context of what I said anyway . . .

Newt is just doing the RNC's work, just as Aiken just spouted the RNC official line on everything in the debate that Claire walked all over him.

The only original thought that Aiken has is how women's bodies should work if they were just more submissive. He is a dope.
