Council rejects subsidy for conference center
Tuesday, October 23, 2012
The Jefferson City Council decided no operating subsidy would be offered to a developer or hotelier for the proposed conference center.
At the City Council work session Monday, council members voted no on the question of offering an operating subsidy for a proposed conference center with very little discussion and 4th Ward Councilwoman Carrie Carroll offering the only affirmative vote.
Carroll said she wanted to keep the options open and provide some flexibility on the issue, stating preference would of course go to those proposals that do not require an operating subsidy.

Good job, Council!
Keep working to spend the tax dollars on projects that will benefit all the voters, not just a few developers and restaurant owners.

Carrie needs to be voted off the council. She consistantly votes against the wishes of the people she's supposed to be representing and many of us are sick of it.

What exactly do you think the wishes of the people might be? Do you have some sort of survey? Remember that the voters approved keeping the trash collection and recycling system, but voted against sales tax increases after a vigorous disinformation campaign. It would be inaccurate to presume to know what the people want based on those anti-sales-tax votes.
I think Carrie has the only functioning brain in the bunch, and she's stuck working with a batch of no-bots who would like to take the city back to somewhere around 1948 when people knew their place.
