Commission weighs health insurance for county workers

Nearly half of Monday’s two-hour Cole County Commission meeting involved the explanation and discussion of health insurance proposals for the county’s employees — but commissioners won’t make a final decision until later.
“It’s predominately numbers, because it’s the bottom-line budget impact,” Presiding Commissioner Marc Ellinger explained after Monday afternoon’s meeting. “But, in coming to what the number is, it depends upon what’s included, what the benefits are, themselves.
“So, the benefit discussion leads into the final discussion, which is how much do we want to pay? Or, how much are we going to pay?”
