Bob Scruggs travels a lot these days between Mid-Missouri and Houston, Texas — because, for the last 21⁄2 years, he’s been treated for lung cancer at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center there.

“It’s made me aware that I’m mortal,” Scruggs said last week of his battle with cancer, that’s included surgery to remove part of his lung as well as the radiation and chemotherapy regimens that many cancer patients experience.

But he’s not afraid.
