Playing the state’s third-ranked Class 3 team at full strength would be a daunting task. Playing it shorthanded? Forget about it.

The Jefferson City Jays put up a game effort for long stretches of Saturday’s contest with the Marquette Mustangs at the 179 Soccer Park. But the absence of three key contributors eventually proved to be too much, as the Jays fell 3-0.
