Adventurous fundraiser for Special Olympics spends second year in capital

As music on the loud speaker and the cheers from below encouraged the participants at Special Olympics Missouri's Over the Edge event Saturday, nearly 45 people went "Over The Edge" for the Central Area Special Olympics.

This is the second year Jefferson City has been a site for the event, which allows fundraisers who raised at least $1,000 the chance to rappel down 13 stories of the Jefferson State Office Building. The event had previously been held in Columbia, though Diane Brimer, Central Area director for Special Olympics, said they expect to hold the event in Jefferson City again.
