USS Jefferson City crew visiting namesake city again

Crew members from the USS Jefferson City will be in town throughout the weekend, helping to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the commissioning of the submarine.

Melody Green, who has been involved in bringing the crew members to the area for 18 years, said the crew came into town Thursday after doing some recruiting in Columbia. Green said the group will be in town through Monday, taking part in various activities throughout the area.

"They're pretty much here promoting the submarine and letting the people of Jefferson City see them, and we want them to see the people of Jefferson City," Green said.
