Boy Scout ’perversion files’ include 46 Mo. cases

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Confidential files kept for years by Boy Scouts of America detailing allegations of sexual abuse against boys include 46 cases from Missouri.

A majority of the Missouri cases included in files released Thursday come from troops in St. Louis and Kansas City or their suburbs but cases also were reported in such places as Neosho, Fort Leonard Wood and Chillicothe.

The Boy Scouts released about 14,500 pages of what are being called “perversion files” on cases across the country dating from 1959 to 1985.

A Portland law firm that made the files available stressed that simply because a case is on the list does not mean the allegations are true. Some of the cases did result in court sentences but others have not been substantiated or were dropped.

The Catholic Church, a big college football program, and now the Boy Scouts are the latest so-called revered institution to have turned out to cover up sexual abuse of young boys.

All while very publicly decrying the idea of tolerance for gay people.

The most homophobic institutions among us are sexually abusing young boys and hiding it in a systematic way.

What's going on here?

These are all very good reasons to make prostitution legal. If there were another outlet for these guys, perhaps they would not resort to attacking vulnerable kids.

Agree 100% about that. Stigma-free professional sex works. An affordable actual sex education of young boys would also eliminate many of them being vulnerable in the first place. Men not having an outlet and therefore requiring potential targets to become sexually invisible is at the core of many religious practices. "Cover it up darlin' and you won't be bothered.."

Dance around the issue and pretend it doesn't exist hasnt worked. Time to face it head on and create a solution. Get the government involved to regulate, license, inspect it. Tax the hell out of it if you want.

Works in other cultures. Why deny reality and create all these monsters and victims? Find a solution and deal with it.

JCLIfer, it sounds crazy to most people, but I have begun to think the same way. Those who are now being exposed have had their own irons in the fire of keeping some things illegal. This is usually the case. It is a different form of greed.
