A lofty goal, even a dream, at the beginning of the season becomes a reality today - the Blair Oaks softball team will be playing in the Final Four in its first season at the Class 3 level.
"That was a goal not just the coaches expressed to the team, but the players themselves," Blair Oaks coach Sharon Buschjost said. "They all have that same expectation. Any time you achieve something you set out to, you feel pretty good about it. It's a good feeling all the way around. All the way from managers, players, coaches, administrators and fans, it's fun for all."
The Lady Falcons (22-7) take on Centralia (22-4), the defending Class 3 state champions, in a semifinal matchup at 1 p.m. today at the Killian Softball Complex in Springfield.
