Montee ad criticizes Kinder in Mo. lt. gov. race

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Democratic challenger Susan Montee is criticizing Republican Lt. Gov. Kinder over hotel bills and dealings with a stripper in a new TV ad.

Kinder used personal funds to reimburse the state more than $54,000 for lodging following reports by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he spent hundreds of nights at St. Louis hotels. Kinder also acknowledged frequenting an Illinois strip club in the 1990s after an article in the Riverfront Times newspaper.

Montee's TV spot raises both issues.

On Wednesday, Kinder's campaign pointed to an online video posted two years ago that shows Montee speaking in a hallway during a Democratic event. Montee - who was then seeking re-election as state auditor - is shown holding a cup and praising the margaritas being served and suggesting a margarita machine fundraiser.
