Man shot by Mo. troopers out of hospital

UNION, Mo. (AP) - An eastern Missouri man with a history of anti-government commentary is out of the hospital, more than a month after he was shot by Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers.

Jeffrey Weinhaus had been hospitalized since Sept. 11 when two troopers arranged to meet him at a gas station near St. Clair to serve a warrant for his arrest for two counts of drug possession and one count of tampering with a judicial officer.

The patrol says Weinhaus reached for a gun during the meeting and troopers shot him. Franklin County prosecutor Bob Parks says Weinhaus was released from a hospital last week, but declined to give details of his condition.

Parks says he will review patrol reports before deciding whether to file charges against Weinhaus.
