House will be razed for bank expansion

A long-empty home at 704 Washington St. will be replaced with a Hawthorn Bank expansion. Jefferson City's Historic Preservation Commission recently approved the application for demolition of the residence owned by the neighboring bank.
Chairman Cathy Bordner said she was pleased to hear the bank intends for the new project to blend with the historic German neighborhood’s architecture.
