McCaskill ad targets China as bully

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Sen. Claire McCaskill's new campaign ad takes aim at China rather than her Republican opponent.

McCaskill, a Democrat, is seeking re-election against Congressman Todd Akin, who spoke Saturday at a conference in Kansas City organized by Preserving American Liberty, a Kansas City-area citizens group.

Akin told about 60 audience members to stand up for what they believe.

Akin has continued to his campaign despite calls for him to leave because of his remarks in August about "legitimate rape."

McCaskill's campaign said Saturday it's releasing the new television ad in which McCaskill calls China a bully and says she co-sponsored legislation that helped "catch" Chinese companies that were evading U.S. trade laws.

The campaign says the ad will air during the St. Louis Cardinals' National League Championship Series games.
