C.B.C. tops Helias, 42-14
Friday, October 12, 2012
ST. LOUIS — For nearly two quarters, the Helias Crusaders stood toe-to-toe with the C.B.C. Cadets, the top-ranked team in Class 6.
But the Cadets got a touchdown in the final minute of the first half to take a 14-point lead into intermission, then dominated the second half on their way to a 42-14 victory Friday night against the Crusaders.
“We just didn’t play good enough,” Helias head coach Phil Pitts said. “They’re No. 1 in the state for a reason, but again, we needed to play better if we expected to win.”
The Crusaders finished with 261 total yards, 166 passing.
Helias (4-4, ranked No. 9 in Class 4) closes out the regular season next Saturday night with a game against Hannibal. Game time is 7 p.m. It will be Homecoming for the Crusaders.
