Grand jury indicts 9 local, area residents

A Jefferson City man charged with sexual assault from a June incident was among those indicted by the Cole County Grand Jury on Wednesday.

A Cole County Sheriff's Department probable cause statement shows Forrest Hoppe, 22, and the victim were at a mutual friend's residence in the 4000 block of Randall Drive.

The two told investigators they had been involved in an intimate relationship since February and one morning in June, they were sleeping together.

But, the statement said, Hoppe forcibly began to remove the victim's clothing after she told him she didn't want to do anything sexual.

Officials said Hoppe held the victim down, bit the victim on her neck and had sexual intercourse with the victim against her will.

When interviewed by authorities, Hoppe admitted having sexual intercourse with the victim and that she had told him to stop, but he had not believed her.
