Urban deer hunt kills 1,100 deer

Urban deer hunting this past weekend resulted in more than 1,100 deer killed in 12 Missouri counties, 71 of which were in Cole County.

Jim Low, spokesman for the Missouri Department of Conservation, said the weekend’s cool weather helped contribute to the large amount of deer killed in the urban hunt this year. The urban hunt ran from Friday through Monday.

Good deal! The deer are so thick on my side of town that numerous acccidents happen every week. Someone is going to get killed. I shudder whenever I hear a motorcycle go by after dark. One deer hit on a bike will kill a couple of people.

Seems like the City Hall could have been more proactive by promoting the hunt and encouraging people to call in and report locations of deer so that the hunters can quickly run over and get them,

Do you mean that deer are in Jeff? I've heard that they go into gardens but this sounds like it's much worse than that. Which end of town are you in? Or are they all over? Just wondering so I can be extra careful if there are more where your at.
