Board sees improvements at North School

Last spring, the staff at North Elementary School in Holts Summit had to contend daily with a decrepit building which had outlived its usefulness. This fall, faculty members are teaching in a renovated building that better serves the needs of their students.

The Jefferson City Board of Education on Tuesday held their monthly meeting in the school's library, after touring the school's latest improvements. Numerous additions have been added to the building since the school district acquired it in the late 1960s.

Bob Weber, director of buildings, grounds and purchasing, told the board it cost approximately $1.6 million to remodel the building, an extensive project that required contractors to replace ....
