Controversial call angers Braves, helps Redbirds into next round

It’s going down as the infield fly rule heard around the world — that controversial call in the winner-take-all wild card play-in game between the St. Louis Cardinals and Atlanta Braves on Friday.

Look, my opinion on that call is about as valid as that of the replacement NFL refs who worked the Seattle-Green Bay game. I thought it was the wrong call, and I’m a huge Cardinals fan.

I’ve heard so-called experts make compelling arguments for both sides. Either way, the Cardinals are into the National League Division Series and the Braves are making tee times on the golf course.

You know what though? The Cardinals have absolutely nothing to apologize for. It’s not their fault the ....
