Lincoln hosts MIAA foe Washburn today
Saturday, October 6, 2012
It’s tough to win games when you’re down from the get-go. That’s been a major problem for the Lincoln football team this year.
Through five games, the Blue Tigers have been outscored by their opponents 87-17 in the first quarter. Lincoln hopes that changes today when it hosts No. 20 Washburn at 2 p.m. at Dwight T. Reed Stadium. It could be a tough task, as the Ichabods come in outscoring their opponents 42-17 in the opening quarter.
“We’ve just got to start faster,” Lincoln head coach Mike Jones said. “It seems like the first quarter we do things and dig ourselves in a hole and have to climb out of that hole. The hole sometimes is too deep to climb out.”
It’s been too deep every time for Lincoln, seeing as the Blue Tigers are 0-5 on the season, including 0-5 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. Washburn, on the other hand, is 4-1 both overall and in conference play.
