High court hears plea for new trial or freedom for convicted murderer
Friday, October 5, 2012
Three people have been released from Missouri prisons in the past decade after court rulings appeared to support their claims of “actual innocence” in previous trials.
And Mark Woodworth, convicted twice for a neighbor’s murder that occurred when he was a teenager, would like to be the fourth to get out of prison.
But Cathy Robertson’s family and friends support the state’s efforts to keep Woodworth in prison.
Both sides got to argue their cases Thursday before the Missouri Supreme Court which, as usual, gave no indication when it would rule in the case.
