City exploring reliever status for airport

Jefferson City is looking into gaining reliever status at the Memorial Airport, meaning any planes that couldn’t land at Columbia Regional Airport would be redirected to Jefferson City.
When the City Council approved a $100,000 contribution to the Columbia Regional Airport to help attract a new airline, they also directed city staff to work to get the Jefferson City Memorial Airport designated as a reliever airport by the Federal Aviation Administration.
