With the end of its season breathing down its neck in Thursday's district semifinal against Helias, it finally did.
Jefferson City got a pair of two-run home runs from Brooke Rozier and Allyson Metz in the top of the eighth as the Lady Jays upset top-seeded Helias 7-3 at Rock Bridge.
Jefferson City, the fourth seed, advances to Friday's district title game against the Rock Bridge-Hickman winner. Gametime is set for 6 p.m.
