Two late homers lift Lady Jays past Lady Crusaders

COLUMBIA — Jefferson City has been waiting all season for its offense to come to life.

With the end of its season breathing down its neck in Thursday’s district semifinal against Helias, it finally did.

Jefferson City got a pair of two-run home runs from Brooke Rozier and Allyson Metz in the top of the eighth as the Lady Jays upset top-seeded Helias 7-3 at Rock Bridge.

Jefferson City, the fourth seed, advances to Friday’s district title game against the Rock Bridge-Hickman winner. Gametime is set for 6 p.m.
