Entrepreneurs asked to pitch business plans

Jefferson City’s new entrepreneurial support system, Start Up Jeff City, is offering an opportunity for new and prospective businesses to “pitch” their business plan in hope of winning a cash prize and support for their idea.

The session is at 9 a.m. Oct. 6 at Capital Event Center, 623 Ohio St. Potential business owners will have five minutes to present their plan to a panel of judges and then will be asked questions by the judges.

At the end of the day, one entrepreneur will win a cash prize and free office space at the Start Up Jeff City business incubator on Madison Street.

Start Up Jeff City began about six months ago with the first workshop on what it takes to be an entrepreneur. The next session connected prospective business owners with lenders, lawyers, accountants, leasing agents and members of the city administration. The August workshop was a chance for a first look at the business plans with input from other local business owners and Lincoln University faculty members.
