No specifics offered to explain Internet outage

A day after a multi-state outage of Internet and voicemail service occurred, CenturyLink officials still didn’t offer a clear reason about the cause.
A post on the company’s Facebook page Thursday afternoon stated:
“CenturyLink encountered an issue with some of its commonly deployed Internet equipment last night (Wednesday) which interrupted Internet traffic for some customers. We believe other North American carriers were impacted as well. Once we discovered the cause of this issue, we were able to restore service within a few hours. We are assessing root causes and are working aggressively with the Internet equipment vendor. We will continue to investigate until we confirm all issues are resolved.”
When asked, corporate spokespersons said the statement was the only information they could give about the outage.
