Council discusses changes to Chamber contract
Thursday, November 29, 2012
Jefferson City is looking to renew its contract with the local Chamber of Commerce, but not without new performance measures.
At the Council Committee on Administration meeting Wednesday, City attorney Drew Hilpert said proposed measures with the chamber contract would give the City Council an idea of how successful the joint venture is between the city and chamber.
Hilpert said some proposed metrics were sent to Chamber President and CEO Randy Allen, who sent an alternate list of measures to consider.

Can the News Tribune try to find out what the actual benefits the city gets from contracting with the Chamber? i would really like to know how much money the Chamber has received over the past ten years, and I would like to see a list of projects and their actual value that we have received as a result of these contracts.
I really have no idea what the Chamber does with all their money. The only thing that ever gets reported is they throw lavish parties, balls, and socials all the time so that the Chamber members can get together and have fun. dress up and eat expensive dinners and drink expensive alcohol.
Why does the City contract with the Chamber anyway?
We need a little SUNSHINE on all of this.

The Chamber provides an annual report to the council on economic development activities, which is what the city and county contract with the chamber to provide. Reports for the past five years can be found on both the News Tribune website and the City of Jefferson website.

Thanks for the info. I looked at the latest report and I am speechless. A much bigger crock than I thought it might be.
