New water rates set for Eugene

Starting Jan. 1, new rates will take effect for customers on the Eugene water system.

The Cole County Commission on Tuesday approved a rate that starts with customers paying $26 for the first 2,000 gallons of water they use, plus $6 for each additional 1,000 gallons used.

That means the “average” customer who uses 5,000 gallons each month, would see their bill jump from $16.32 to $56.

That is still pretty cheap compared to Missouri American Water customers in Jefferson City.
