Police arrest 2 after drug search

Jefferson City police arrested two people Monday at a home in the 1100 block of East Dunklin Street, after serving a search warrant.

In a news release, Capt. Doug Shoemaker said the two — a woman, 28, and a man, 26 — were arrested for possession of narcotics distribution materials.

The state’s Division of Family Services Childrens’ Division “was contacted due to the presence of youth at the location and the conditions in which the persons ... were living,” Shoemaker said.

The police S.W.A.T. team served the warrant after “information was obtained that narcotics distribution was taking place within a residence in that block,” he reported.

Neither suspect was identified.

I really feel for all of the children that are exposed to these kind of people, it really affects their lives in the future.

I AM NOT defending the couple that was arrested. The article describes that the young children were living in deplorable conditions and they should have been taken out of the home. What does bother me is that the couple was not arrested for drugs, but were arrested for narcotics distribution materials.

Since when did baggies become illegal?
