California falls to Maryville, 42-7

MARYVILLE, Mo. - The stakes were high for all involved in Saturday's Class 3 semifinal game, given only one team would advance to the state championship game Friday at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis.

And in the end, the California Pintos were just outplayed by the Maryville Spoofhounds, who rumbled to a 42-7 win.

"Things didn't turn out the way we wanted, but the boys played hard the whole game," California head coach Marty Albertson said. "Maryville is a good team, but we have nothing to be ashamed of. These boys put the pride back into Pinto football."
