JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Missouri House currently has four vacancies as lawmakers who did not seek re-election move on to new positions.
The most recent lawmaker to step down was Democrat Chris Carter, who resigned Oct. 26. He won a special election and now is an alderman in St. Louis. However, Carter still appeared on the ballot for the state Legislature and will need to resign again after the election results are certified.
Gary Fuhr stepped down Sept. 30 and now is the Republican director for the St. Louis County Board of Elections. Also on the Republican side, House Speaker Steven Tilley and Ray Weter both resigned in August.
