Ex-teacher, coach sentenced for molesting boys

MARSHFIELD, Mo. (AP) - A former baseball coach and teacher in a southwest Missouri school district has been sentenced to six years in prison for molesting two teenage boys.

The Springfield News-Leader reports (http://sgfnow.co/X9BL3C) 37-year-old Darren Rose was sentenced Tuesday in Webster County District Court. He pleaded guilty in September to two counts of child molestation. Prosecutors dropped a third count in exchange.

Rose taught middle-school science and coached high school baseball in the Fordland district. He was charged after the superintendent contacted police in early 2010 about the allegations.

The boys told investigators that Rose invited them to sleep at his home and fondled them while they slept.

Rose was sentenced two six years on each of the two counts. The sentences will run concurrently.
