This year’s 1-10 record better than last year’s for LU

Not all 1-10 records are the same.

The Lincoln football team has put together back-to-back 1-10 seasons. Yet, there’s little doubt the Blue Tigers are on the upswing.

“We didn’t win as many games as we’d like to win,” Lincoln head coach Mike Jones said Tuesday during this season’s final Lincoln Blue Tiger Quarterback Club weekly luncheon. “Without a doubt we were a better football team. As a program we’re still building and learning.

“Now we have to learn how to win. There’s some games we had a chance to win and we didn’t. We’re getting in position, we’re competing, we’re working hard. We’re getting better as a football team.”

The statistics prove Jones’ point — Lincoln was indeed a better football team in 2012 than in 2011, despite what the records say.
