CALIFORNIA, Mo. - In the midst of an unbeaten season, it's been tough to find many flaws in California's game. But if there was something the Pintos knew they had to get better at, it was ball control.
The third quarter of Saturday's Class 3 quarterfinal game against Duchesne alleviated some of those concerns.
California used a 19-play, 91-yard drive to deflate Duchesne and advance to the semifinals with a 21-12 victory at Riley Field.
"I told them before the game, "We can not go out offensively and run 37 plays to their 70. We need to change that around,'" California coach Marty Albertson said. "In the third quarter we did that."
