The district tournament is firmly in the rearview mirror.
On Monday night, the Helias Crusaders scored in the final minute to take the Class 4 District 6 crown with a 14-10 victory against the Hannibal Pirates.
"The next day, it was over," Helias coach Phil Pitts said. "The kids got their pats on the back around school during the day, but when we met for practice, that ended."
The Crusaders have their eyes on a bigger prize.
"We don't want to win just a district plaque in this program," Pitts said. "Our goals are bigger than that, we want to hang a banner."
That process will resume this afternoon when the Crusaders (8-4, ranked No. 5) host the Clayton Greyhounds (9-3) in the quarterfinals at Adkins Stadium.
