MU women's soccer to host Illini in tournament

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - The Missouri women's soccer team hosts Illinois in a first-round NCAA tournament game Saturday night in the school's first postseason appearance since 2008.

Missouri finished 14-7 in its first Southeastern Conference season and lost 3-0 to Florida in the SEC tournament semifinals. The Tigers won the Big 12 Conference regular-season title in 2009 but failed to advance to the NCAA tournament that year.

Missouri coach Brian Blitz will miss Saturday's game after he was ejected from the Florida contest.

Illinois finished fifth in the Big Ten Conference with a record of 10-8-3.

The game begins at 6:30 p.m. at Walton Stadium. The winner advances to a likely match against North Carolina, which has won 20 of the sport's 28 national titles.
